If a Picture says a thousand words, than this is the longest post EVER!

We just returned from a two night beach camping adventure in Carpinteria. We arrived Thursday night later than we'd hoped and set up camp in the dark. We played all day Friday and had a 2nd night full of hot dogs and S'mores (for the record I did have more than one meal planned, but everyone likes hot dogs better over a campfire). We packed up early Saturday morning so we could return for James' & Jacob's first soccer games.

James was kind of intimidated by the waves at first because they looked so tall before they broke. Then they just rumbled in.

Sand is cute between the toes. Wasn't as cute when she took these feet into the tent and jumped on the sleeping bags.

Jacob carefully crafted his Spiderman castle retreat. He enlisted Dad to help with the buckets, but then he finished the detail work on his own.

James didn't like how all the squirrels ran through the camp mid morning. He spent his time trying to find holes to fill up so the squirrels couldn't get out. I hope they had an emergency exit route.
Along one side of camp there is a freshwater runoff. Actually the water was pretty bacteria infested, but it was here that we met this friendly turtle. My kids look just like models - right? Having chocolate milk mustaches really is attractive.

From where I'm sitting... LIFE IS GOOD!

Jessica was lagging behind checking out every puddle and sand hole. Dad and brothers are up ahead.

No video games at the beach - HA! James was drawing his favorite character Mario in the sand.

Some of Jacob's treasures.

This picture is so sweet to me. What Jessica is actually doing is gathering a handful of wet sand to compact into a ball. Then she chucks it yelling, "SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!" I think we've lived in California too long.

Jacob found a clam shell that he named Jackson.

Here is the train that runs through camp every couple of hours - all night long.

So, that's it. You've made it through the long post. Thanks for looking!

  1. Jennifer-

I'm so glad you found me! I'll be a regular. I've always loved your writing style and you take beautiful pictures. What a fun way to keep intouch! I toyed with the idea of a blog, but it's just not my season. I'll take lessons from you for awhile.

    Love,
    Noreen
