2- I spent 3 hours waiting for the surgeon to finish a procedure at the hospital so we could meet and decide that Jacob probably won't get his port out until July. I am NOT going to pull him out of swim lessons again this summer.
3- My church friends did a big musical production called Savior of the World. It was beautifully done and I was sad to not be up on stage with them. I was invited to participate, but had to withdraw because my daughter's BIG DANCE RECITAL was on the same night.
4- Jessica's BIG SHOW was a whomping 3 hours long. Seems to be my lucky number this week. She looked adorable - not that you can see any of the pictures yet because I'm completely intimidated by my new Photoshop editing software. She did pull a bit of stage shyness - when she wasn't sure what to do she would run her gloved hand along her cheek - threatening to smear the mascara.
5- I think I was born with a PC brain. I'm not saying that the MAC isn't beautiful - I'm just saying that it isn't as intuitive as all those Mac-minds say. For one - WHY are the little red, yellow, green cute little street light buttons on the LEFT side of all my pages. I'm right handed. I use the mouse with my right hand. Why can't they be on the right like all the PC minimize, close, enhance buttons are? Who can help me move the buttons to the right side? Are all MAC users lefties? And while I'm mocking my Mac - I want a mouse with a right-click button. I don't want to use my left hand to hold a button on the cute keyboard while I click. I just don't. I'm not even nursing a baby while on the computer. I don't adjust to change well - even if it is going to be for the best in the long run. I think I need one of my mac friends to come give me a tutorial - I mean come when I'm NOT about to cough up a lung.
6- My friends are NO LONGER ALLOWED to move away. I've had enough of it!!! I'm still mad at Hyla & Lisa for ditching me a couple years ago. Then Carolee had to bail last year. Jolie (who I've known for over 10 years and who has done my hair that whole time) moved a couple months ago. Does she even realize how much I've always looked up to her? Karen is leaving (though she promises it is only for a year sabbatical). Now Sara who inspires me in a billion ways & who's kids are bonded with mine is setting off to a place of her own. I just find it ironic that Jon & I have threatened to move every couple of years for job transfers or to move closer to family. Yet here we are. I do love it here. I hope all the friends will come back here to visit.
7- I have the coolest sister. We usually talk every Monday while I wait for Jessica at dance class. She is really creative and organized. She's one of the best friends I know. We haven't even lived in the same state for over 10 years. Luckily we're related so we are always drawn back together. I can hardly wait to see her this summer. We are already making plans to get our kids together and play. It's never enough time. I'm glad that she calls me on the phone and talks me through my crazy life.
8- My mom just got the job she interviewed for. I'm so proud of her. She has always worked hard at home and away. It's always been obvious to me that us kids mean EVERYTHING to her. I hope I can be a mom like that.
9- I'm super thankful for Jacob's school teachers this year - Mrs. Bishop & Mrs. Jordan. I know my son has received the royal treatment this school year. I don't think I've figured out a way to really let them know that the way they've helped my son has touched me deeply.
10- Finally - the biggest news of all. MY JON COMPLETED THE LA MARATHON. That's 26.2 miles. He was among 17,000 racers. He finished in 5 1/2 hours. He was number 6106 to complete the race (I think). He says that he feels great. He didn't know if he would finish. It got real hard after four hours of running. I know his body has taken a hit because I see him limp slightly. I also sleep with him and he talks in his sleep. Last night he kept saying "ouch" and groaning when he'd roll over. I know this because I wasn't sleeping last night.

I will see you VERY soon! We are leaving for Cali in NINE days! :)
ReplyDeleteI heard you are not supposed to have sex when you are training for a marathon, so you shouldn't have thought you were pregnant LOL - that's what p diddy said on oprah anyway -
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your husband - that is a major accomplishment! And I hope you feel better soon
WOW, Congrats to Jon, I'd still be WALKING it....Which Sara is moving? and I'm with you on the MAC, but I am able to right and left click my mouse??!!
ReplyDeleteDeanna, who cannot remember her log on info....
