Today was the last day of school. Thirty-seven minutes before the morning bell sounded, Jacob came to me in his underwear and asked, "Can we celebrate my birthday today?" I guess it isn't fair that he has a summer birthday and doesn't get to share it with his friends at school. He misses out on the birthday bookmark, the singing, and the goofy hat. But what he mostly wanted was for me to go buy doughnuts (which I usually spell donuts)for the class.
Despite the fact that Jacob wouldn't get his shoes on or comb his hair in a timely manner, I turned all soft and agreed. I walked the boys on campus and asked the teacher if there were already a billion treats on the agenda. I went to the grocer (who didn't even have 2 dozen donuts in their case yet), and the local donut shop (who only accepted cash and didn't have any donuts with sprinkles). Finally I drove the distance to Krispy Kreme. This is what Jacob requested by brand. Those marketing agents know their stuff. I was able to use the drive thru window to order 2 dozen donuts with sprinkles, 22 Krispy Kreme hats & napkins to go.
Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Eighth Birthday!!!!

You are such a nice mom!!! Driving all around for those doughnuts!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of the boys are amazing! Keep up the good work and practicing! You are really talented!
That is so sweet. My B-day is August 10th so I always got burned on the classroom b-day too. :)
