Cupcakes - I Can Do It - May 1, 2011

Jayson was on treat for Family Home Evening. He wanted to make cupcakes, not brownies. I thought he just wanted to make the mix and even put the cupcake liners in the pan. But he wanted to do it all. So I let him.

Slumber Sweetly My Baby Boy

Seeing my sleeping babies always triggers an abundance of love feelings.

So beautiful.

So peaceful.

So innocent.

So adored.

So thankful.

My Mom ROCKS

So I guess I have to purchase shirts that remind me that being a mother is fantastic. Goose & I spent the day at Disneyland. It started off ROUGH when he took a big bonk to the head in the Small World line. I think he was trying to sit on the chain divider and fell back. I looked over just as his head hit the pavement. It's a horribly LOUD sound. I was ready to cry right there with him.

He showed no signs of concussion and we happily continued our day. He enjoyed exploring Tom Sawyers Island & climbing up and down the treehouse.

Who Am I? - Poem assigned for Open House at School

Just sharing a poem written by James for a school assignment. The poem was formatted where he had to answer questions to complete the sentences.

Who Am I?

By James Stock

Who am I?

A basketball player, a boy scout, a Mormon.

Do other people really know who I am?

To my parents, I am the oldest and most responsible son,

To my teachers, one who always is ready to work hard,

Sometimes I am respectful,

While other times I am selfish.

I am part of the world.

Part of California,

part of a community,

part of a LDS church,

part of a family.

Mature when it comes to school, I am one who gets his work done on time.

Yet a child when around friends, I am a goofball around friends.

I am always hardworking, caring, determined, funny, and polite.

I am a positive person who will worry about everything said or assigned.

I dream about playing on a NBA team.

for a job,

for money,

for a family.

I remember when I did not like being a cub scout,

And yet sometimes I miss the good times.

Often now as a boy scout, I feel like going back in time and changing my experiences in cub scouts.

Sometimes I want to go to my own world,

Only to play basketball and play video games.

Who am I?

Tall, very blond, responsible, funny,

And most of all, a trustworthy leader.

My Boys

My heart melted when I drove up the street and saw my boys playing basketball together. In my mind's eye I immediately saw my pair of toddlers in their cargo pants and little boy shirts shootin' hoops on their Fisher Price basketball stand. I'm so glad they have each other - it's a pain and a blessing having boys so close in age.

Little Boy at Play

This is a regular sight at our house.

Usually he sets up his Tonka Chuck & Friends Play Yard Set in the walkway by the kitchen.

This is classic - toys oozing out of the organization bins in the background and two pairs of sister's shoes lying around.

DISNEYLAND - January 2011 - His Own Annual Pass

JJS_8847JJS_8850
Jayson has his own annual passport now. He & I have had several Daytime Disney Dates while the kids were at school. I love having one on one time with him. He's still afraid of the characters, but he saw Mary Poppins and wanted to approach her. He clung to my leg so I could get enough distance to take a photo. He listened to her talk with her British accent. He might have been crushing on her.

A Dozen Years for Our Firstborn - January 18, 2011

JJS_8235bw

I always like to make birthday cakes for my children. Perhaps I should invest in cake decorating classes. I insist on doing it, but have absolutely NO training. So I decided I should make a sphere cake for the ball (which I think I had to bake twice because I didn't let it bake long enough) and made homemade marshmallow fondant because I didn't want all the preservatives in the store bought variety and because I was trying to make the cake as difficult as possible. Marshmallow fondant was a ridiculously sticky mess until you get it kneaded to the right consistency. But I has happy the I could create a #12 basketball jersey for the cake.
