Ten On Tuesday

1- I didn't come up with this idea. Several of the blogs I read have a weekly entry called 10 on Tuesday. I thought it would be a good way to toss out snippets of what I've been meaning to blog about. I totally shouldn't be on the computer. I have a long list of things that HAVE TO be done today.

2- Jayson can climb stairs and recently demonstrated his ability to flush the toilet. Too bad he filled the toilet up with garbage first. Oh yeah, he figured out the wipe box too.

3- We took the kids up to Mt. Baldy for one last snow day last Monday. It was there minimum day. It was a total pain to get out the door, get everyone outfitted in bulky cold wear, etc.

4- We didn't stay in the mountain long. There was an avalanche - a loud rumbling then a glance upward showed me that there were boulders crashing down the side of the mountain.

5- My son Jacob was building a snowman under a tree maybe 50 feet from where the last of the debris landed. He fell into a snow duggout as he was trying to run away. No, I didn't photograph the avalanche. Once the kids were all in the car screaming, "PLEEAASE can we go home." I walked back and from a far distance snapped the setting. Jacob was playing by the tree that is just right of center. Further on the left you can see where the debris trickled down.

6- Jessica won't stop riding her bike down the sidewalk despite my SCREAMING like a crazy lady. I could see the car's tail light indicating it was backing out. Perhaps the driver heard my panicked screams because he/she stopped and Jessica kept riding on by.

7- I took the three kids over to watch the construction trucks. They are building a new church building just around the corner. Jayson wasn't convinced that he liked trucks. The tractors scared him.

8- I found a new recipe for homemade teriyaki chicken thighs. LOVE IT!

9- I cut sugar and simple carbs cold turkey 11 days ago. My crazy cravings are finally in the backseat.

10- I breathed a sigh of relief when I returned home from a very fun Dr. Seuss Themed Relief Society Birthday Dinner. Sitting on my porch was a box containing Jacob's baptism pics. YEAH!!!!

  1. Avalanche?? Scary!

Isn't it funny how kids go deaf when you NEED them to hear, and they somehow think they have it all under control and why are you freaking out???

  2. I love that you took them to watch the trucks! It's amazing how something like that can be fun for kids. I'm sure Jayson will catch on soon, once he can get past the noise! Jack's the same way as Jessica with cars. That's when I wish I didn't have such an independent child! Safety first!

  5. I love that Terriyaki chicken recipe as well. I make it every so often, and my kids just love it! I also like using the sauce as a topping for potstickers, the big bag you get from Costco. I make bowls with rice, veggies, and use the terriyake sauce instead of the sauce they include. My kids just eat it up!
BTW, congrats on Jacob's baptism and NED status! Heavenly Father has answered the many prayers that have been said on his behalf and on yours.
I admire your photographic abilities. You truly have a great eye for capturing kids in portraiture. Way to go!
